# Your first whinge

1. Install and open Whinge. Allow Screen Recording and Microphone access when macOS asks.
2. Choose **Start Whinge** in the menu bar, or run `whinge start` in a terminal.
3. Say an enabled start phrase or press Record on the toolbar. A chime confirms recording began.
4. Talk through the issue. Press **⌃⌥D** to draw; clear the drawing when you move to another point.
5. Press Stop or run `whinge stop`. The recording appears in **Documents/Whinges** by default.

The folder contains a live transcript, screenshots, video, audio and timing information. The
terminal prints the folder path when it finishes. See [the command line](/docs/cli)
to choose another save location.
